    Fungus Got Your Nails?

    Last updated 2 months ago

For people with toenail fungus, there is no good time to wear sandals. Not even at the beach in July. There is just no way to hide fingernail fungus for men and woman tend to try to hide this condition with nail polish which only causes this condition to spread and worsen.

Nail fungus causes nails to become thick, yellow and brittle in a way that looks pretty ugly and can be painful. Sufferers can spend years and hundreds of dollars trying to clear the infection with drugs, topical treatments and home remedies, sometimes to no avail. It tends to be a cosmetic issue for the younger set and a pain issue for older folks.

Onychomycosis (ah-nee-ko-my-KO-sis), or nail fungus, starts with subtle discoloration; the toenail turns yellow or dark brown. In rare cases the nail turns white, gets powdery and sloughs off. The tip of the nail may thicken and become a challenge even for the sharpest nail clippers. Debris, or "toe jam," under the nail might develop an odor. As the fungus grows, it can turn the nail into a lumpy, misshapen black cap that hurts like the devil and looks just as evil.

More than half of adults over 65 have this problem. The vast majority of nail fungus problems are self-made. It may start from a nail stubbing; an article dropped on your nails or you picking or digging which produces bleeding. These events allow bacteria and fungus to invade and set up shop.

Laser treatments are the latest weapon against fungal infections of the nails. Lasers have a 94% success rate for curing this problem. Laser Regeneration has treated hundreds of clients with even a higher success rate. For your free consultation please call 770-306-9777.

What Laser Hair Removal Can Do for You

    Last updated 8 months ago

Laser hair removal treatment has recently exploded as a popular method for permanent facial and body hair. After the very first laser hair removal procedure, patients see immense differences in the volume of hair on targeted parts of the body. Here are a few things that laser hair removal can do for you:

    • Less Unwanted Hair
The main reason people get laser hair removal is to remove hair on different parts of the body. The permanent removal of hair has many benefits. There are now lasers for all skin types with excellent results. Two things the laser does not see, however, is peach fuzz and gray hair. Once all unwanted growth has been ceased, people generally enjoy a greatly boosted self-image.
    • Better Skin
Once you no longer have hair, you won’t have to shave anymore, saving you time in the morning, and money on razors and shaving cream. For your skin, this means no more razor burn, cuts, or ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal offers you the opportunity to never have to drag a sharp razor across delicate skin again.
    • Low-Risks
The laser hair treatment procedure itself is not invasive and requires no recovery time. Occasional side effects include itchiness and redness, but they clear up within one to three days, and long-term side effects are exceptionally rare.  The procedure involves very little discomfort, but many clinics have numbing creams available for more sensitive patients. Be sure to discuss possible side-effects and the procedure with your laser hair removal specialist.

    Toenails Changing?

    Last updated 8 months ago

The following article will be published in The Citizen- Aug. 2011:

Toenail fungus affects both adults and children, but it's more common in adults. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, toenail fungus often targets individuals who frequent gyms and other public areas where there is warm, moist air. Toenail fungus symptoms vary depending on how early the infection is diagnosed and what type of fungal infection is involved.

    Toenail Changes

    • Any sudden changes to toenails including discoloration, shape changes and brittleness could indicate a fungal infection.

    Thickening Brittle Nails

    • Thickening and brittle toenails are common indicators of toenail fungus. The toenails will often crumble or break easily and may have lost their shine.

    Toenail Lifting

    • Infected toenails may lift from the nail bed. If toenails are separating from the toe and/or there is pain or swelling, individuals should consult a doctor to prevent secondary fungal or bacterial infections.

    Discoloration

    • Toenail discoloration can happen during any stage of a toenail fungus infection. An early sign of fungal infection is yellowing of the toenail. Darker discoloration usually occurs as the infection progresses.

    Toenail Injuries

    • Injuries to toenails should be checked for discoloration after bruising subsides. Fungus is more apt to occur when a toenail has been damaged or pulls away from the nail bed.

Laser Regeneration is now offering a laser treatment that eliminates this embarrassing problem. No downtime, no medications and mostly painless. This treatment is not covered by insurance. Industry average price is $1200 however Laser Regeneration has a special for $900. Call to book your free consultation (678) 619-4584.
